Buck’s Bro Defeats Baton Roo By A Nose At Golden Gate Fields

     In what turned out to be a veritable match race, Buck’s Bro defeated Baton Roo by a nose in the $26,880 feature race at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.

     Buck’s Bro, ridden by Francisco Duran, and Baton Roo, with Aaron Gryder aboard, raced one-two throughout the one-mile contest for 3-year-olds and up.  The 4-year-old gelding Baton Roo drew alongside Buck’s Bro in midstretch but couldn’t go by the         6-year-old gelding.

     Buck’s Bro stopped the timer in 1:39.26 while earning his sixth victory in 21 career starts.  The 5-to-2 second choice in a field of five, Buck’s Bro paid $7.60.  Baton Roo, the 9-to-5 favorite, took second by 1 1/4 lengths over Dance Chief.

     Buck’s Bro is trained by Kent Molinaro and owned in partnership by Mercedes Antonini and Jerry Vaughn.  Buck’s Bro earned $17,280 and has made $195,276.

     Jockey Kevin Krigger won two races Thursday.  Krigger took the fourth race with Chasin Perfection ($7.00) and the sixth with Dave’s Pacemaker ($9.90).  

     Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.
