Brooklyn Handicap-Belmont Stakes Double Betting Offered Friday At Golden Gate Fields

     Golden Gate Fields will offer fans the opportunity to wager on the Brooklyn Handicap-Belmont Stakes Double Friday.

     The $2 bet challenges bettors to correctly select the winners of Friday’s $150,000 Brooklyn Handicap and Saturday’s $1 million Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park in New York.

     Post time for the Grade 2 Brooklyn, a 1 1/2-mile race for 3-year-olds and up, is
2:45 p.m.  Drosselmeyer, the 2010 Belmont Stakes winner, is the 6-to-5 morning line favorite in the Brooklyn Handicap.

     The Belmont Stakes, the final leg of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown, will be run at 3:35 p.m. Saturday and televised live on NBC.  A 1 1/2-mile contest for 3-year-olds, the Belmont Stakes features Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom and Preakness Stakes hero Shackleford.  

     Twelve horses are entered in the Belmont Stakes and Animal Kingdom is the 2-to-1 favorite on the morning line.  Nehro, the runner-up in the Kentucky Derby, is the second choice at 4-to1 and Shackleford is the third choice at 9-to-2.  

     Advance wagering on the Belmont Stakes will be offered all day Friday at Golden Gate Fields.  The Belmont Stakes field is as follows: (1) Master of Hounds, Garret Gomez rides, 10-to-1; (2) Stay Thirsty, Javier Castellano, 20-to-1; (3) Ruler On Ice, Jose Valdivia, Jr., 20-to-1; (4) Santiva, Shaun Bridgmohan, 15-to-1; (5) Brilliant Speed, Joel Rosario, 15-to-1; (6) Nehro, Corey Nakatani, 4-to-1; (7) Monzon, Jose Lezcano, 30-to-1;
(8) Prime Cut, Edgar Prado, 15-to-1: (9) Animal Kingdom, John Velazquez, 2-to-1; (10) Mucho Macho Man, Ramon Dominguez, 10-to-1; (11) Isn’t He Perfect, Rajiv Maragh, 30-to-1; and (12) Shackleford, Jesus Castanon, 9-to-2.
