Brite Bobby Celebrates 50th Career Start With a Victory

     The 8-year-old gelding Brite Bobby celebrated his 50th career start by scoring a front-running victory in the fifth race at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.

     Ridden by Julien Couton, Brite Bobby rated nicely down the backstretch and then poured it on in the stretch to win the six-furlong sprint for $4,000 claimers by 3 1/4 lengths in 1:10.71.  Lindsey’s Storm took second by a head over Judge Kent.

     Brite Bobby, listed at 7-to-2 on the morning line, went off at overlay odds of 7-to-1 and paid $17.20 after registering his eighth lifetime win. 

     A California-bred son of High Brite, Brite Bobby earned $4,950 Thursday and has made $177,889 in his 50 trips to the starting gate.  Brite Bobby is trained by Genaro Vallejo and owned by Horseplayers Racing Club.
