Brazilian Kapo Di Tuttie Makes Winning U.S. Debut At GGF

Kapo Di Tutti, ridden by Chad Schvaneveldt, defeated Moudez by 1 1/4 lengths while taking the 1 1/16-mile turf contest in 1:45.04. Sir Al, another Irish-bred, finished third. Kapo Di Tutti had eight wins in 17 starts in South America – including a Group I stakes triumph – and was well-backed in the betting at Golden Gate Fields. The 7-to-5 favorite, Kapo Di Tutti paid $5.20. Kapo Di Tutti, a 5-year-old horse by Redattore, is based in Southern California and trained by Hall of Famer Richard Mandella. Owned by Samir Abdenour, Kapo Di Tutti earned $19,800 for the victory. Jockey Russell Baze won three races Friday while trainers Steve Sherman and William J. Morey, Jr. each saddled a pair of winners. Baze took the second race with Chief Runaway ($8.80), the fourth with Victoriously ($4.20) and the sixth with Frisco Fox ($4.20). Sherman won the first race with B. J.’s Hope ($4.20) and the fourth with Victoriously. Morey captured the second race with Chief Runaway and the fifth with Roman Lady ($26.80). Jockey Hector Romero won two races as he was aboard B. J.’s Hope in the first race and Roman Lady in the fifth. Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Saturday and Sunday.
