Bleach Blonde Edges Lady Railrider At GGF
Bleach Blonde edged 6-to-5 favorite Lady Railrider by a head after a long stretch duel to capture the $47,120 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.
Bleach Blonde, receiving a strong ride from Kevin Krigger, came from just off the pace to win the 1 1/16-mile allowance contest for fillies and mares in 1:46.35. Lady Railrider, under jockey Frank Alvarado, easily took second by five lengths over pacesetter Sis’s Sis.
Bleach Blonde was the 5-to-2 second choice in a field of five and paid $7.40. Trained by Lloyd Mason, Bleach Blonde collected her fourth victory in 10 starts this year after going winless in 10 starts in 2010.
Brett Mason, Lloyd’s son, bred Bleach Blonde and owns the 4-year-old daughter of Marino Marini. Bleach Blonde earned $29,640 for Thursday’s win and has banked $216,800 in 26 lifetime starts.
Lloyd Mason and Ed Moger, Jr. both saddled a pair of winners Thursday. In addition to the featured first race, Mason took the fifth race with Solerina ($6.60). Moger scored his wins in back-to-back races, taking the second with Just After Sunset ($5.60) and the third with Appealing Resume ($13.60).
Jockey Russell Baze, who returned to the saddle after missing last Sunday’s racing program due to back spasms, rode two winners. Baze tallied with a pair of favorites, taking the fourth race with April ($5.00) and the seventh with Count It All Joy ($4.20).
Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
