Beast Of Bourbon Hits Hard At Golden Gate Fields

Beast of Bourbon poured it on in the final furlong of Saturday’s $31,105 feature race at Golden Gate Fields.

Ridden by Juan Hernandez, Beast of Bourbon came from off the pace to win the
1 1/16-mile allowance test for older horses by 4 1/2 lengths in 1:44.51.  Code of Conduct took second by three-quarters of a length over Little Jerry.

Shaun Washington, the 2-1 favorite ridden by Dennis Carr, checked in fourth in the field of six.

Beast of Bourbon, trained by William E. Morey, has won three of his last four starts and has finished in the money in nine straight races.  Dismissed as the 3-1 third choice in the wagering Saturday, Beast of Bourbon paid $8.40.

Morey owns Beast of Bourbon in partnership with Michael Nentwig and Roger Newman.  The 4-year-old gelding earned $18,600 for his latest victory and has banked $88,430 in 12 career starts.

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Sunday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. and general parking, general admission, programs, beers, hot dogs and sodas cost just $1 each.
