Baze Wins With Favorite, Then Price Horse at GGF

Jockey Russell Baze rode back-to-back winners Thursday at Golden Gate Fields, scoring with a heavy favorite and a price horse.

Baze won the sixth race with 3-to-5 favorite Bimbo Magic, who romped home by
3 1/4 lengths and paid $3.20.  Bimbo Magic, claimed by William E. Morey from leading trainer Jerry Hollendorfer for $10,000 on Nov. 17, was claimed back by “The Dorf” Thursday for $12,500.

Baze’s mount in the seventh race was Baton Roo, who closed strongly from off the pace to defeat front-running Imblendednotshaken by a length.  Dismissed at 6-to-1 in the wagering, Baton Roo paid $15.00.

The leading rider at the 2010 fall meeting, Baze has won 61 races through 35 days of racing.

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. each day.
