Baze Stays Hot At Golden Gate Fields

A three-day break in racing did little to cool off jockey Russell Baze, who won three races Thursday at Golden Gate Fields.

Baze, who rode five winners on Easter Sunday, kicked off the new racing week with a victory aboard Primary Notice ($3.00) in the first race Thursday.

Baze finished second aboard odds-on favorite Urban Hunter in the second race but rebounded to capture the third race, a two-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies, with the Greg James-trained Attracta ($4.80).

Baze sat out the fourth race and then teamed up again with James for a victory with La Pearla ($6.40) in the fifth race.  Baze is a runaway leader in the jockey standings at the 2010-2011 Golden Gate Fields meeting with 116 wins.

Apprentice rider Abel Cedillo had a riding double Thursday.  Cedillo won the fourth race with Merry Marino ($7.40) and the seventh with Robs Hero ($5.00).

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.
