Baze, Krigger Triple At GGF; Blind Luck Second At Oaklawn
Jockeys Russell Baze and Kevin Krigger both rode three winners Saturday at Golden Gate Fields.
Baze secured his riding hat trick with victories aboard Nepobedimiy ($3.00) in first race, Tropical Heat ($4.40) in the third, and Lady for a Day ($3.40) in the seventh. Baze is the leading rider at the 2010-2011 meeting with 75 victories.
Krigger won the fourth race with Wild Cycle ($4.80), the fifth with Chelsea’s Flame ($3.60) and the ninth with Free Lovin’ ($39.20). Krigger, who missed the early part of the meeting, is ninth in the jockey standings with 21 wins.
Baze has six mounts on Sunday’s nine-race card and Krigger has three. Post time is 12:45 p.m. and Golden Gate Fields is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 beers, $1 hot dogs, and $1 sodas.
Blind Luck, the champion filly trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, finished second to arch rival Havre de Grace in the Grade 3 $150,000 Azeri Stakes at Oaklawn Park Saturday. Havre de Grace won the 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares by 3 1/4 lengths in 1:42.02 and paid $5.20.
Sway Away, trained by Jeff Bonde, finished sixth in the Grade 2 $300,000 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn. The Rebel, a 1 1/16-mile test for 3-year-olds, was won by 7-to-5 favorite The Factor, who romped home by 6 1/4 lengths under Martin Garcia. The Factor was timed in 1:42.19 and paid $4.80.
