Baze Follows Up Five-Win Day With A Four-Victory Afternoon

Jockey Russell Baze, who won with five of his six mounts Friday at Golden Gate Fields, swept the first three races Saturday en route to a four-victory afternoon at the East Bay racetrack.

Baze backers received something usual in the first two races – handsome win payoffs.  Baze took the first race with 6-to-1 shot For Sure for Sure ($14.40) and the second race with 3-to-1 second choice Metropolitan Man ($8.00).

Baze won the third race with odds-on favorite Funi Act ($3.60) and completed his riding four-bagger with a victory aboard 6-to-5 favorite She’sawontontomato ($4.40) in the sixth race.

Baze, who was 4-for-7 on the day, is a runaway leader in the Golden Gate Fields jockey standings with 152 victories at the 2010-2011 winter/spring meeting.

Post time Sunday at Golden Gate Fields is 12:45 p.m. and the track is hosting Fiesta Hispana, a Hispanic Heritage Day celebration that will feature live music by La Incomparable Banda Tierra Del Sol and fun with La Tropa de Payosos.

Sunday is Dollar Day at Golden Gate Fields with the track offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers and $1 sodas.  General admission gates open at 10 a.m.
