Baze Caps Big Weekend With Riding Triple

Leading jockey Russell Baze capped off a very successful weekend at Golden Gate Fields by riding three winners Sunday.

Baze, who began the racing week by getting blanked on Thursday, rebounded in a big way by riding four winners Friday, three winners Saturday, and three more Sunday.

Baze recorded his Cinco de Mayo hat trick with victories aboard Zip the Bag ($6.80) in the second race, Heroically ($5.20) in the third, and Romance Is Sosa ($4.00) in the sixth.

Baze tops the rider standings with 123 victories and he’ll be looking to add to that win total Thursday when racing resumes at Golden Gate Fields.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. and Baze is scheduled to ride five horses on the seven-race program, including morning-line favorites Lovely Daughter (the 7-5 choice in the first race), Premium Quality (8-5 in the second), and Exotic Slew (2-1) in the sixth.
