Bailouttheminister Favored In Monday’s Albany Stakes

     Bailouttheminister, who has won his last three starts at six furlongs, heads a field of nine hard-hitting sprinters in the $50,000-added Albany Stakes at Golden Gate Fields Monday.

     Post time for the special Presidents’ Day racing program is 12:45 p.m. and Golden  Gate Fields is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers and $1 sodas.

     Bailouttheminister is the 2-1 morning line favorite in the Albany, a six-furlong dash for 4-year-olds and up.  Trained by Keith Nations, Bailouttheminister will be making his first start since Aug. 19, when he finished fifth in the Grade 3 Longacres Mile at Emerald Downs.

     In his last three tries racing six furlongs, Bailouttheminister won the Sam J. Whiting Handicap at Pleasanton and a pair of allowance races at Golden Gate Fields.  Bailouttheminister will break from the rail in the Albany under jockey Russell Baze.

     Bailouttheminister is one of five stakes winners in the Albany field.  The others are Gallant Son (winner of the 2011 Robert K. Kerlan Memorial Handicap at Hollywood Park), Shrug (2012 Green Flash Handicap at Del Mar), Road Ready (2011 Bachelor Stakes at Oaklawn Park), and Northern Causeway (2011 British Columbia Derby at Hastings Park).

     Chapman’s Peak, who will make his stakes debut Monday, has won three of his last four starts for top Southern California trainer John Sadler and is 3-1 on the Albany morning line.  Chapman’s Peak will be ridden by William Antongeorgi, III, who is
1-for-1 aboard the 6-year-old horse.

     The field for the Albany Stakes, in post position order with riders and morning-line odds, is as follows: Bailouttheminister, Baze, 2-1; Gallant Son, Julien Couton, 6-1; Shrug, Dennis Carr, 7-2; Moonshine Bay, Juan Hernandez, 6-1; Chapman’s Peak, Antongeorgi, 3-1; Soldiers Point, Inoel Beato, 15-1; Road Ready, Frank Alvarado, 20-1; Hexbreaker, Francisco Duran, 20-1; and Northern Causeway, Kyle Frey, 30-1.

     Post time for the Albany Stakes, the seventh race on a nine-race program, is 3:45 p.m.
