Alvarado, Carr, Hollendorfer All Win Two Races
Jockeys Frank Alvarado and Dennis Carr and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer all recorded a pair of victories on Thursday’s seven-race program at Golden Gate Fields.
Alvarado won the first race with Battling Atticus ($8.80) and the sixth with What’s for Dinner ($5.60). Alvarado is third in the rider standings 13 victories.
Carr scored with a pair of even-money favorites, taking the third race with Wild Bella ($4.20) and the seventh with Gavel ($4.20). Carr is second in the jockey standings with 20 wins.
Hollendorfer, who tops the trainer standings with 13 victories, scored in back-to-back races. “The Dorf” took the third race with Wild Bella and the fourth with Red Danger ($13.40).
Two horses had winning streaks snapped Thursday.
The 6-year-old mare Yerkillinmesmalls, who was seeking her fifth straight victory, finished last in the third race after pressing the pace to the stretch. The 4-year-old gelding Easy Going Boykie, who was gunning for four wins in a row, finished second (beaten 3 1/2 lengths) to What’s for Dinner in the sixth race.
