Alvarado And Specht Click Twice At Golden Gate Fields

Jockey Frank Alvarado and trainer Steve Specht, a potent jockey-trainer combo in Northern California for many years, clicked twice at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

Alvarado and Specht scored with a pair of heavy favorites, taking the third race with 6-5 choice Alpine Gathering and the sixth with 1-2 choice Adriatic Son ($3.00).

In the $36,660 allowance feature, Minister Vivendi rallied from last under apprentice Ricardo Gonzalez to win by a half-length over Gilligan and jockey Dennis Carr.  Fly Blue, ridden by Pedro Terrero, finished third.

Minister Vivendi, trained by Bill Delia, completed 1 1/16-miles in 1:46.51 and paid $5.80 as the second choice in the wagering.  Owned and bred by Dana Rocheford, Minister Vivendi is a 4-year-old son of Ministers Wild Cat.

Gonzalez rode back-to-back winners as he captured the fourth race with Blue Collar Boy ($4.60) before taking the featured fifth race with Minister Vivendi.

Racing resumes Sunday at Golden Gate Fields.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the track is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers, and $1 sodas.
