All American Field Includes Four Multiple Stakes-Winners
The Grade 3 $100,000 All American Stakes at Golden Gate Fields has attracted a field of seven and the strong lineup includes multiple stakes-winners Gladding, Positive Response, Hudson Landing and Control Seeker.
The All American will be run Friday when Golden Gate Fields presents a special “Day-After-Thanksgiving” racing program that begins at 12:45 p.m. The All American, the seventh race on a nine-race card, will be run at 3:45 p.m.
The All American will be run at 1 1/16-miles on Golden Gate Fields’ synthetic Tapeta racing surface. Gladding goes into the race seeking his third career stakes win as he captured the Grade 2 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita in 2011, and in his most recent outing, the Alamedan Handicap at Pleasanton on July 1.
Positive Response has won stakes at home (the 2010 Gold Rush Stakes and 2011 California Derby at Golden Gate Fields) and on the road (the 2011 John Battaglia Stakes at Turfway Park in Florence, Kentucky). Positive Response appeared to have earned his fourth stakes victory when he crossed the wire first in the Grade 3 Berkeley Handicap at Golden Gate Fields in May but the stewards disqualified the gelding for causing interference in deep stretch and placed him fourth.
Hudson Landing, a winner of three stakes, collected his first stakes victory in 2010 when he took the Alcatraz Stakes at Golden Gate Fields. The 5-year-old gelding has captured two stakes this year, the Grade 3 San Francisco Mile at Golden Gate Fields and the Mt. Rainier Handicap at Emerald Downs.
Control Seeker, at age six, recorded a pair of stakes wins on the fair circuit this year, taking the Joseph T. Grace Handicap at Santa Rosa and the Bull Dog Handicap at the Big Fresno Fair. Control Seeker will bring a three-race winning streak into the All American as his stakes wins were sandwiched around a victory in an allowance race at Golden Gate Fields.
The three other runners in the All American are stakes-placed as Duke of Doom finished second in the 2011 Alcatraz Stakes at Golden Gate Fields, Fast Track finished third in the 2012 Cotton Fitzsimmons Handicap at Turf Paradise, and Slim Pickins finished third in the Budweiser Handicap at Emerald Downs.
The morning-line for the All American will be released Sunday. The field, in post position order with riders, is as follows: Gladding, Juan Hernandez; Duke of Doom, Russell Baze; Positive Response, Dennis Carr; Fast Track, Eric Camacho; Hudson Landing, Frank Alvarado; Slim Pickins, Julien Couton; and Control Seeker, Francisco Duran.
Free Admission Sunday With A Canned Food Donation -- Fans can gain free entry to Golden Gate Fields Sunday by participating in the track’s holiday canned food drive.
Patrons that bring a canned food item to Golden Gate Fields will be offered their choice of either free general admission or free club house admission. Gates open at 10 a.m. and post time for the nine-race card is 12:45 p.m.
In addition to free admission for food drive participants, Golden Gate Fields will offer all fans $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers, and $1 sodas. The track will also show NFL games on monitors throughout the facility via the Sunday Ticket.
