Returned to Northern California in October 2012 after a five-year absence and made an immediate impact, finishing second in the Golden Gate Fields jockey standings at the 2012 fall meeting with 31 wins.
 
Came right back to take second in the rider standings at the 2012-2013 winter/spring meeting at Golden Gate Fields with 105 victories.
 
Has moved his tack from his native New York to Northern California on three occasions. 
 
First rode in the Bay Area from 1995 to January 2002 and finished second to Hall of Fame jockey Russell Baze at nine major meetings, taking runner-up honors four times at now defunct Bay Meadows (1997 winter/spring, 1998 winter/spring, 1998 fall, and 1999 fall) and five times at Golden Gate Fields (1998 spring, 1998-1999 winter/spring, 1999 spring, 1999-2000 winter/spring, and 2000 spring).
 
Also rode in the Bay Area from 2004-2007 and finished second to Baze at the 2004 Bay Meadows fall meeting and third behind Baze and Frank Alvarado at the 2004-2005 Golden Gate Fields winter meeting.
 
Primarily rode at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, New York, between his latest two stints in the Bay Area 
 
Took of his jockey’s license in late 1986 in New York and scored his first win at Aqueduct aboard Crobosity on Jan. 25, 1987.
 
Won the Grade 1 Jerome Handicap at Belmont Park in 1989 aboard De Roche.
 
Captured the Grade 2 Schuylerville Stakes at Saratoga in 1991 with Turn Back The Alarm.
 
Posted back-to-back victories in the Grade 3 Toboggan Handicap at Aqueduct, taking the feature in 1993 with Argyle Lake and in 1994 with Blare of Trumpets. 
 
Won two other Grade 3 stakes in 1994 – the Queens County Handicap at Aqueduct with Federal Funds and the Columbia Stakes at Pimlico with Twist Afleet. 
 
Won a pair of Grade 3 stakes in Northern California in 1996 – the Yerba Buena Handicap at Golden Gate Fields with Fanjica and the San Francisco Handicap at Bay Meadows with Petit Poucet.
 
Came back with two more Grade 3 stakes wins in the Bay Area in 1997 when he took the Golden Gate Handicap at Golden Gate Fields with Irish Wings and the Tanforan Handicap at Bay Meadows with River Flyer. 
 
Guided the filly Sierra Virgen to a victory over male rivals in the Grade 3 Ascot Handicap at Bay Meadows in 1998.
 
Also recorded Grade 3 stakes tallies in the Bay Area with Carthage (Bay Meadows Breeders’ Cup Sprint in 2006), Hallowed Dream (Yerba Buena Breeders’ Cup Handicap, 2006, Golden Gate Fields), Needwood Blade (Bay Meadows Breeders’ Cup Handicap, 2004), Yaralino (Tanforan Handicap, 2001, Golden Gate Fields), and Jo Knows (California Jockey Club Handicap, 1995, Bay Meadows).
 
Scored the richest win of his career in 2008 when he guided Legal Consent to victory in the $318,525 in the New York Breeders’ Futurity at Finger Lakes. 
 
Enjoyed a five-win afternoon at Golden Gate Fields on Dec. 21, 1996.
 
Is the son of Harold Carr, a former jockey who served as a valet at New York tracks for 25 years. 
 
Owns – in partnership with wife Alisa – the dog boarding facility Waggs-And-Woofs, which is located at the family home in the Saratoga Springs, New York, area.  Alisa runs the business.
