FOUR CHECKER RALLIES FOR UPSET

FOUR CHECKER RALLIES FOR UPSET IN
TURF FEATURE AT GOLDEN GATE FIELDS
Four Checker stormed down the middle of the course and got up in the final strides to win a three-horse photo finish in the $33,300 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Friday.

The largest price on the tote board at odds of 10-to-1, Four Checker rallied from last to first in the final eighth of a mile and defeated Kingdom Come by a nose in the 1 1/16 mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up.  Datzig finished third, a neck behind Kingdom Come.

Four Checker, ridden by David Lopez, was timed in 1:44.14 and paid $22.80.  Trained by James Cassidy and owned by Paul John Haggar, Four Checker is a
6-year-old gelding who has eight wins in 58 career starts.

Lopez rode back-to-back winners Friday.  He took the sixth race with Tensioner ($5.00) before capturing the featured seventh race with Four Checker.

Leading jockey Russell Baze also bagged back-to-back wins, taking the fourth race with Crystal Event ($3.80) and the fifth with Sweeping Vision ($3.60).

Only three days remain at the Golden Gate Fields fall meeting.  Post time Saturday, Sunday and Monday is 12:45 p.m.
