DAY TWO OF BREEDERS’ CUP PROMPTS EARLY START AT GGF
The simulcast of day No. 2 of the Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships from Santa Anita and a 10-race local program make for a big day of racing at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

All gates at the track will open at 9 a.m. and post time for the first race at Santa Anita is 10:05 a.m.  The first Breeders’ Cup race, the $1 million Juvenile Turf, will be run at 10:45 a.m.

     The post time schedule for the other Breeders’ Cup races is as follows: $1 million Turf 11:23 a.m., $2 million Sprint 12:10 p.m., $2 million Juvenile 12:49 p.m., $2 million Mile 1:28 p.m., $1 million Dirt Mile 2:12 p.m., $3 million Turf 2:57 p.m., and $5 million Classic 3:45 p.m.

Golden Gate Fields, which has fields of 10 or more runners in nine of its 10 races, will present its first race at 10:25 a.m.

HOLLENDORFER’S BLIND LUCK FINISHES THIRD  --  Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer’s Blind Luck finished third as the 7-to-2 favorite in the $1,818,000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Friday at Santa Anita.

Owned in partnership by Hollendorfer, Mark Dedomenico and John Carver, Blind Luck earned $198,000 for the third-place finish in the 1 1/16-miles race for 2-year-old fillies.

Despite the nice payday and the fact his filly ran well, Hollendorfer was a disappointed trainer.

“It was a great opportunity and we didn’t get it done,” said Hollendorfer, who was looking for his first Breeders’ Cup victory.  “I mean I…I didn’t get it done.”

Hollendorfer’s Friday at Santa Anita ended on a positive note as he won the day’s final race, the Grade 2 $200,000 Las Palmas Handicap, with Tuscan Evening ($9.80).

Hollendorfer has a long-shot chance to get a Breeders’ Cup win Saturday as he’ll send out Chocolate Candy, 15-to-1 on the morning line, in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
