‘REAL MONEY’ HANDICAPPING CONTESTS WILL BE HELD EVERY SATURDAY AT GGF

‘REAL MONEY’ HANDICAPPING CONTESTS WILL BE HELD EVERY SATURDAY AT GGF
Who is the best handicapper at Golden Gate Fields?  The track is giving fans the opportunity to claim that title every Saturday with its new “real money” handicapping contest.

The entry fee for the contest is $25, with $20 becoming the player’s live bankroll and $5 going into the Winner’s Pool.  Golden Gate Fields will match the $5 contribution to the Winner’s Pool for each player entered, which means $10 goes to the Winner’s Pool for every entrant.

Fans can sign up for the contest at the customer service booth on the Club House level.   The deadline for entering is 10 minutes prior to post time for the third race.  Fans can enter the contest as many times as they like.

Participants will receive a wagering card containing their $20 balance and the handicapping contest will be held on races three through eight.  Players are required to make at least one bet on each of the contest races, and the bets must be made at a self-service terminal.

Permitted contest wagers are Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Quinella, Trifecta, Superfecta and Super High Five.  No multiple race wagers are allowed.   There are no limits on the amount that can be wagered on each race, however, participants are eliminated from the contest if their bankroll drops to zero.  Since this a “real money” contest, players keep all their winnings despite where they finish in the contest standings.

The winner of the contest each Saturday will be the person who amasses the highest bankroll from their wagers on races three through eight.  There will be consolation payoffs for those with the second-, third- and fourth-largest bankrolls.  The prize distribution from the Winner’s Pool will be as follows: 50 percent to the winner, 25 percent to second, 15 percent to third, and 10 percent to fourth.

Golden Gate Fields will conduct the handicapping contests every Saturday through the remainder of the fall/winter meeting, which runs through Dec. 20.

‘GHOSTLY GATE FIELDS’  --  This Saturday Golden Gate Fields will become “Ghostly Gate Fields.”  The track will host a Halloween Party for families that will feature a haunted house, a pumpkin patch (take home a free pumpkin), pumpkin decorating, bounce houses, pony rides, a petting zoo and face painters.

The activities will take place from noon to 4 p.m. and kids will receive a free goodie bag filled with candy, pencils, and Halloween toys.  Children are admitted free to the track and all of the Halloween activities are free.
