Golden Gate Fields will open all admission gates at 8:30 a.m. Saturday when it simulcasts the entire 13-race Belmont Stakes Day program from Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y.
Post time for the first race at Belmont Park is 8:35 a.m. Post time for the Belmont Stakes, the final leg of the Triple Crown, is 3:27 p.m.
The Belmont Stakes Day program features a $1 million guaranteed Pick Six pool as well as a $1 million guaranteed Pick Four pool. All of the wagering options offered at Belmont Park will be available to fans betting via simulcast at Golden Gate Fields.
The Pick Six sequence will conclude with the Belmont Stakes and also include the following major stakes: $250,000 True North Handicap, $400,000 Just A Game, $250,000 Woody Stephens, $300,000 Acorn, and the $400,000 Woodford Reserve Manhattan Handicap.
Golden Gate Fields will present a 10-race card Saturday and post time for the first local event is 12:15 p.m. The track is hosting a wine festival that fans can enjoy for only $15. The festival will feature a variety of California wines, fine food, and live music.
CHOCOLATE CANDY ON THE RAIL IN BELMONT STAKES -- Chocolate Candy, trained by Northern California’s Jerry Hollendorfer, will break from the rail in the Belmont Stakes.
Ten 3-year-olds, headed by Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, were entered in the Belmont Stakes Wednesday. Chocolate Candy drew post position one while Mine That Bird, who finished second in the Preakness Stakes to Rachel Alexandra, drew post seven.
Calvin Borel, who guided Mine That Bird to his shocking victory in the Kentucky Derby and then teamed with Rachel Alexandra for a victorious run in the Preakness Stakes, will try to become the first jockey to win all three Triple Crown races aboard more than one horse when he reunites with Mine That Bird in the Belmont Stakes.
Chocolate Candy won the California Derby and El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields before going on to run second in the Santa Anita Derby and fifth in the Kentucky Derby. Chocolate Candy is 10-to-1 on the morning line for the Belmont Stakes.
Mine That Bird, who went off at 50-to-1 in the Kentucky Derby and 6-to-1 in the Preakness Stakes, is the morning-line favorite in the Belmont Stakes at 2-to-1.
