VOTE SCORES WIRE-TO-WIRE
VICTORY AT ODDS OF 14-TO-1
The 6-year-old gelding Vote, overlooked in the wagering at odds of
14-to-1, led from start to finish in the $26,900 turf feature at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.

Ridden by Joey Castro and trained by Bob Hess, Sr., Vote held off Like a Tiger and Cowboy Cruisser down the stretch to win the one-mile contest for $25,000 claimers by a half-length.  Like a Tiger took second by a length over Cowboy Cruisser.

Those that voted for Vote at the betting windows received a healthy win payoff of $31.80.  Vote earned $15,600 for his owners, David Milburn and Donald Muldoon.

Vote, a Texas-bred son of Valid Expectations, has seven victories in 31 career starts and is 2-for-5 on the turf at Golden Gate Fields.

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Friday.  Post time is 1:05 p.m. and there is a carryover of $19,528 in the Pick Six.

PREAKNESS WAGERING BEGINS FRIDAY  --  Golden Gate Fields will offer advance wagering on Saturday’s Preakness Stakes all day Friday.  Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown heads a field of 13 in the 1 3/16-mile middle jewel of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown.
