RUNNING RICH NOTCHES THIRD STRAIGHT VICTORY AT GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

Running Rich recorded his third straight impressive victory at the 2008 fall meeting when he ran away to a four-length score in the $39,240 allowance feature at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.

Ridden by Roberto Gonzalez and trained by Kent Molinaro, Running Rich came from just off the pace to win the one-mile allowance test for 3-year-olds and up in 1:36.26.
Sydney Again took second by two lengths over Gabriel’s Hill

Autism Awareness, who was making his first start since his upset victory in the El Camino Real Derby on March 8, was very aggressive out of the gate and set the pace to the stretch before tiring to finish last in the field of six.  Autism Awareness had surgery to remove a bone chip from his left front knee one week after his 62-to-1 stunner in the El Camino Real Derby.

Running Rich, who was coming off a pair of wire-to-wire triumphs in 1 1/16-mile races, paid $5.00 as the 3-to-2 favorite in Saturday’s main event.  Owned by Jerry Vaugh,
Running Rich earned $25,740.

Running Rich, a 4-year-old colt by Richly Blended, has eight victories in 20 career starts as well as three seconds and three thirds.  Running Rich was bred in California.

Sunday is “Toys For Tots” day at Golden Gate Fields.  Fans bringing a new toy to the track will receive two Club House passes.  Post time is 12:45 p.m. and the track is offering $1 general parking, $1 general admission, $1 programs, $1 hot dogs, $1 beers, and $1 sodas.  Also, Golden Gate Fields will broadcast all the football games via NFL Sunday Ticket.
